Brookside

Built in the early 1920s, this Spanish Mediterranean home was full of character—and ready for a fresh chapter with a new young family. The kitchens and bathrooms were still original when we came on board, including one unforgettable “before” detail: a corner dishwasher that looked more like a vintage top-loading washing machine, likely dating back to the 1940s!

As always, we let the house and the clients guide the design direction. In this case, the message was clear: bold design choices and color were not just welcomed—they were essential. The result is a home full of warmth, energy, and personality, thoughtfully designed to support the rhythm of busy family life.

Custom millwork played a major role throughout the project. Built-in cabinetry provides much-needed closed storage while feeling right at home with the original architectural details. One particularly clever moment came from reimagining an awkwardly wide closet—splitting it into a functional butler’s pantry on one side and a stylish powder room on the other.

This project remains one of our favorites for its seamless blend of old and new. It’s a home that celebrates its heritage while embracing modern family living—with color, creativity, and just the right dose of fun.
